Tattoos
I mostly tattoo freehand custom pieces, but I also have pre-drawn designs available from time to time. I post all my available flash on Instagram.
All tattoo appointments will be held in Sheffield unless clearly stated that I am travelling for a convention or guest spot. I open my books every three months, if you would like to book an appointment please wait until the next time they open to get in touch.
In the drop down menu below you can find information on how to make a booking with me, what you must include in your email, what to do to prepare for your appointment, what to expect on the day, and how to care for your tattoo.
My books will next open at 10am on Thursday 6th March for Sheffield appointments in July/August/September 2025. Please email me on this day if you would like to book a tattoo appointment with me. If you would like to book in before this please join my ‘broadcast channel’ on Instagram, where I publish any last minute cancellations.

I do not copy or replicate other artist’s work (even if you have permission)
I do not tattoo script or symbols
Most of my tattoos are done freehand, particularly snakes and botanical pieces. This means I will draw the design onto your skin in pen on the day of your appointment, rather than making a stencil beforehand.
If I do make a drawing for your tattoo I will show it to you on the day of your appointment, there will time on the day to make small alterations to the design. Large changes to the design that I was not aware of (eg completely changing your idea) usually means that we have to reschedule your appointment.
The studio I work from is open plan, this means that there will sometimes be other tattooists and their clients in the same room when you are getting tattooed. There are screens and various other measures for your privacy, but if you prefer to be tattooed on a day when there are no other customers there please let me know when booking in and I will try to arrange it.
You cannot get tattooed if you are under the age of 18, I require proof of ID on the day of your appointment.
You cannot get tattooed if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you have, or have ever had any blood borne diseases, allergies, skin conditions (including eczema and psoriasis) or health issues that may affect you getting tattooed this must be discussed with me prior to booking in. I require everyone to fill out a consent form on the day, and if you do not discuss any issues with me before it can mean we have to move or cancel your appointment.
I cater for all bodies, all skin tones, all genders/no genders. If you have any questions or specific requests regarding this please feel free to ask.

Please email me at elrosetattoo@gmail.com when my books are open. I receive a lot of emails, so if you are a new customer emailing to book a tattoo when my books are closed you will receive an auto reply.
Please include the following in your email
- Your name and pronouns
- A brief description of what you would like to be tattooed
- Where on your body you would like it to go
-Any skin conditions that may affect the tattoo
- What size you would ideally like the tattoo to be
- If the tattoo is to be a cover up, or will need to fit around other existing tattoos or scars
- Reference images, if you have them

I do not publish my rates online, as price varies so much based on size, placement and level of detail. Once you have emailed me to book and we have discussed the tattoo you want I will give you a rough quote. You can then decide if you want to book in or not based on the quote.
I charge per piece, so unless the design changes the price remains within the estimate I give before you book in.
Please note I cannot give a price estimate for very large tattoos such as backs pieces, leg sleeves or arm sleeves. Pieces like this will be charged at my usual day rate, and you will return for sessions until the piece is finished. This is because large pieces vary so much in size and detail that it impossible to know how many sessions they will take.

I require a booking fee to secure all appointments. This fee is non-refundable, so if you change your mind about getting a tattoo, or cannot make the appointment the deposit will not be refunded to you. Booking fees are always non-refundable, and this is my number one rule so please keep it in mind. Please consider carefully before booking in, and make sure you have the time and funds required to attend.
The booking fee I ask is £50, this is included in the final cost of your tattoo - so you pay a percentage to reserve the appointment, and the rest on the day. The fee can be paid via bank transfer (once we have agreed on what you are getting tattooed, and an appointment date I will send you my details across). Please put your full name as the transaction description, and let me know via email once you have transferred the fee.
Being ready to pay the fee as soon as possible after we have agreed a date will ensure you get the slot you want. I will confirm the date and time of your appointment once I receive the booking fee, sometimes this may take a day or so.
When you book in with an idea for a tattoo the quote and time slot given is for that idea only - please don’t make drastic changes to the design after you have booked in. An example of a drastic change to the design is if you book in for a botanical piece and later decide you want a geometric piece instead, or if you book in for a small bird and later decide you also want script added. It is important to be sure of the design you want, so if you think you may change your mind before the day of your appointment it works so much better (and avoids lots of unnecessary stress) if you wait to be sure of the design you want before booking in.
Minor changes to size and design are absolutely fine - especially as I freehand most of my work, as are some changes to placement. I need to know of any small changes at least a few weeks before your appointment, as it may change the price/time it takes.

If you want to cancel or move your appointment and you give me less than 48 hours notice, you will lose the booking fee and will have to pay a new fee to book in again. Before the 48 hour window you can move your appointment once only. Deposits are always non-refundable.
You can email me at elrosetattoo@gmail.com to move or cancel appointments, or for any other reason regarding your tattoo booking.

The studio I work from is in South Sheffield, a 20 minute bus or a 30 minute walk from Sheffield station.
My day sessions run from 10am to 4pm. If you need to make travel arrangements you will leave the studio by 5pm at the very latest.
I will send you an email a few days before with the address, a copy of the consent form you will be required to fill in before getting tattooed, and some useful information for the day.
The studio I work from is appointment only, so the front door is usually shut. When you arrive just knock on the door and I will open the door and welcome you in. If you have any problems finding the studio just send me an email at elrosetattoo@gmail.com - I have email notifications set up on my phone so I will see it and write back straight away.
If you are going to be late please let me know. If you are over an hour late your appointment will be cancelled and you will lose your booking fee.
I prefer you to attend your appointment alone, as having lots of people in the studio can make it difficult to concentrate. If you have a particular reason for wanting someone to accompany you please let me know beforehand.
You are no longer required to wear a mask, if you wear one or not is up to you. I usually don’t wear one but if you prefer me to put one on I am happy to do so, just let me know before your appointment.
I accept cash or bank transfer as payment.
Please don’t drink alcohol the night before your tattoo.
Make sure you eat something before your appointment, and bring something for lunch (or plan a place you want to get food in the local area) if it is a full day session.
Please wear clothing that allows me to access the area where the tattoo will go easily. For example if it is on your thigh bring shorts to change into. If you are having a sternum or back tattoo a baggy t-shirt is ideal. If you want advice on what is best to wear just let me know.
If your tattoo is on your bum, inner thigh, chest, sternum or any other area you do not feel comfortable with having on show you will be provided with nipple covers or a disposable cover of some sort. I can also put up a screen between us and the rest of the room. There are other measures you can take for extra privacy, eg. particular clothing you can wear. I may have told you about these already but if not please feel free to ask.
If you need to cancel your appointment it is very important that you let me know as soon as possible via email: elrosetattoo@gmail.com

I require all my customers to fill out a consent form before they are tattooed by me. I also require ID (a passport or Driver’s License - provisional license is fine) to be shown on the day of your appointment. These are legal requirements and I need ID and a completed consent form from every customer. If you forget your ID it can mean that I won’t tattoo you that day and we have to move your appointment, so please don’t forget it.
I will send you a copy of the consent form for you to read before your appointment.
I recommend that everyone who is getting tattooed by me (especially if it is your first time) has a read of this before the day. This is because if you answer ‘yes’ to any question on the form, it will need to be brought to my attention before the day. This means I can avoid having to move the appointment last minute.

When your tattoo is finished I will wrap it in clingfilm before you leave the studio. Leave this on for no longer than four hours, so when you get home or as soon as you are in a clean environment you can take the clingfilm off. Wash your hands using warm water and gentle soap, then wash the tattoo. The best soap to use use anything gentle, simple face wash is good, or I like to recommend sonics hypoallergenic shower gel. Don’t use anything with exfoliant in it, or any specialist face wash e.g. Face wash for oily skin.
Allow the tattoo to air dry for five or 10 minutes, do not use a towel or flannel to dry the tattoo. You can wash your tattoo in the shower, and if you use a towel to dry yourself after make sure you don’t put the towel on the tattoo. The aim is to have as few things as possible touch the tattoo. Once your tattoo is fully dry you can apply a thin layer of cream, It is especially important that you put only a thin layer of cream on your tattoo, as it needs to be able to breathe. The cream I recommend for healing is called Palmer‘s cocoa butter, linked in the ‘Products I recommend’ section. You can also buy from any boots Superdrug, or large supermarket with a pharmacy aisle. Try to make sure you bye cream that is unscented, and don’t use any specialist creams. If there is another cream you would like to use to heal your tattoo, please discuss it with me at your appointment or send me an email to check it is suitable.
Once you have applied the cream there is no need to re-wrap your tattoo, just wear loosefitting clothing over the area to protect it. Overnight make sure you are sleeping in clean bedding, and make sure the tattoo Is kept covered by clothing especially for the first few days. You should wash and moisturise the area 2 or 3 times a day until it has healed.
If you have a job that requires you to wrap your tattoo please let me know during or after your appointment, so I can advise you how best to care for it.
After 5 to 10 days your tattoo will become tight and itchy, this is normal and is part of the healing process. It will form a thin scaly scab over it. Do not pick or scratch your tattoo, just keep washing it and putting cream on it until the scab has come off on it’s own. Your tattoo may have a very faint silvery covering on it for a few more weeks, this is normal and will go away on its own. You can keep moisturising your tattoo once every few days if you wish, but it no longer needs to be moisturised regularly.
Before your tattoo has healed you must not submerge it in water, this means absolutely no swimming (especially in lakes or the sea) and no baths until the scab has completely gone.
You must be extremely careful to keep your tattoo out of the sun. You must keep the area covered until the tattoo has healed. Once the scab has fully gone you can put a high factor suncream on the tattoo, but remember the area is still healing and your new tattoo will be very sensitive to the sun for a few months after.
